Scottish Liberal Democrat climate emergency spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP has today criticised the Scottish Government's failure to invest in police equipment and resources after it emerged that at least 20 police stations in Scotland have electric vehicles, but no chargers to recharge them, leaving them reliant on partner organisations and public chargers.

Responding to being attacked while delivering leaflets in his ward this morning Cllr Kevin Lang said:

"I have been doing politics a long time so I'm used to shouty, angry people but this is the first time I've ever been physically assaulted.

"This morning, I was simply delivering my councillor newsletter around my ward, when a man came out of his house, grabbed me by the throat and stuffed the newsletter down my shirt, using all kinds of profanity as he did so. Naturally, I have reported the incident to the police.

Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokesperson Willie Rennie has today criticised SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford for calling for the UK Parliament to be recalled while his party refuse demands for an urgent statement in the Scottish Parliament on the state of Scotland's ferry network.

Several key Western Isles routes were cancelled last week, while island communities have repeatedly voiced their frustration about disruption to the ferry service in recent months.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today called for an urgent uplift in mental health funding after a Scottish Liberal Democrat Freedom of Information request revealed that people in some Scottish health boards are waiting more than 1,000 days for treatment.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton has called on the Government to spare families from soaring energy bills by cancelling October's price cap increase, accusing the Conservatives of "stalling in the face of a national emergency".

The bold plan would save households up to £2,000 a year. The 70% increase in the energy price cap expected to be announced by Ofgem later this month would be cancelled, with the Government instead paying the shortfall to energy suppliers so that they can afford to supply customers at the current rates.
