Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP has today pressed the Scottish Government over plans for an investigation into Sunday Post allegations of mismanagement and a cover-up at the former Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency.

In response to a topical question from Mr McArthur, Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf revealed that Chief Constable Iain Livingstone had expressed "shock" at the allegations and indicated a willingness to consider turning a potential probe over to another police force or agency to investigate.

Speaking outside the chamber, Mr McArthur said:

"These allegations resemble scenes from Life on Mars.

"It's right that the government is being open minded about how this might be best investigated."
