Speaking in response to the news that James Dornan has said his staff member suffered a stroke due to "other extreme pressure" "compounded by a Member who should have known better", in reference to former Childcare Minister Mark McDonald, Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader Willie Rennie said:

"Mark McDonald's behaviour has been unacceptable, as it would be in any workplace.

"Over the weekend, more shocking details of the toll his actions had on the women affected have gradually emerged. Retaining his position is untenable.

"I appeal to Mark McDonald's friends and family to step in and advise him to stand down before he causes the victims any more distress or himself any more damage."
