RBS job losses worrying for workers and families

Commenting on job losses announced today by the Royal Bank of Scotland, Liberal Democrat MSP for Edinburgh West Margaret Smith said:
"On the back of previous financial sector job losses, any announcement of job cuts is disappointing and worrying for workers and their families.
"I have sought and received assurances from the Royal Bank on the job losses affecting Edinburgh. I have been assured that Edinburgh has been identified as a key site and may actually gain some jobs in the process.
"However, at this stage we do not have a regional breakdown of where RBS job losses will occur.
"The Financial Sector Jobs Taskforce and the Scottish Government must work with RBS and other companies in the industry to stabilise and secure the sector's long term future in Scotland."
