Buying petrol from the local Tesco's store in Ellon costs significantly more than buying in Aberdeen but the fact that a litre of fuel can regularly cost 2p more than Inverurie Tesco has prompted action from a local MSP.
Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes has written to the Chief Executive of Tesco demanding answers.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:
"Both Ellon and Inverurie are on main roads and under 20 miles away from Aberdeen. The normal excuse that higher prices are down to the rural setting of the forecourt simply won't wash.
"Tesco needs to explain why drivers in Ellon are paying a premium for their fuel.
"This kind of rip off is particularly unfair when drivers are facing record increases in fuel prices."
